Konark is a small settlement near Chandrabhaga beach in Puri district of Orissa. The magnificent Sun temple was built by King Narasimhadeva in the thirteenth century, made in the form of colossal chariot of Sun God. It is also known as Black-pagoda.

The Temple is built on a huge platform in the shape of chariot with twelve pair of wheels and seven horses pulling it. The temple compound is maintained nicely and looks beautiful.

I visited the place with my friends Pradeep and Satish and we were fascinated by the structural grandeur of this temple. The beautifully carved wheels of the temple add to the beauty and we utilized every possible opportunity to capture the beauty which is to be seen to believe.

The temple compound houses so many structures like sculptor of elephants, horses,   & monsters to name a few.

Despite being a famous tourist spot, konark is peaceful and serene place, the Chandrabhaga beach which is about 2 kilometers from the temple is also very clean and beautiful.

you will find many souvenir shops here
